got Goat?

August 30, 2005

Crazy things are happening in Philly this morning. On my drive to the train station, I turn on the traffic report only to hear that the PA Turnpike is backed up for five miles after a tractor trailer carrying 250 goats crashed and jack-knifed across the highway. It turns out that the goats escaped and were running all over the road. One motorist actually called into the radio station and said that cops were running down the turnpike in hot pursuit of the goats, and motorists were starting to get out of their cars to lend some aid. Is this for real? I have to think this will eventually make national news. Fantastic stuff.

The 5th edition of Butter’s Podcast is ready to be downloaded. This was actually recorded on Saturday, but I haven’t had a chance to upload it until today. This show is a bit of a departure, as we go on a sound-seeing tour of Will Smith’s West Philadelphia roots. Couple that with “A White Kid Reads Rap Lyrics”, and you have yourself a 40 minute ramble of a podcast. Enjoy!

Butter’s Podcast episode 4 is hot off the presses! Another drive cast tonight. Truth be told, I don’t remember one thing I said. I’m so tired these days that most of my time is spent in that groggy state wondering what is a nightmare and what is reality (most of the time these are the same thing).

Nothing too inspiring tonight kids. Things will hopefully get better once I’m done working these stupid hours and stripping wallpaper at 10 PM. Hope all is well with each one of you. Take care!

August 25, 2005

Well, it was my intention to get another podcast up last night, but a minor tragedy reared its ugly head in the Butter household. The future Mrs. Butter’s dog and best friend (who she almost certainly likes more than me) was attacked by two large, hyena-like beasts. Thankfully future Mrs. Butter (hereafter referred to simply as “FMB”) was not present to witness the horrifying incident. The two hyenas are owned by none other than FMB’s grandfather, although by default as they were strays that someone dumped on his front porch. FMB hates these dogs more than anything, and I affectionately refer to them as “the dingos”. Said dingos live a meager existence in FMB’s grandfather’s barn, likely surviving off of grubs and puddle water.

As it happened, the dingos rushed in attack upon spotting FMB’s 10 lb. Shih Tzu and actually got ahold of her in their evil jaws. Luckily FMB’s father (BFFIL) had a 2×4 in his hand at the time and proceeded to beat the dogs senseless. The Shih Tzu (which I like to call “Splinter” despite FMB’s prostestations) escaped death but not a few puncture holes in her side from said dingos. The dingos will now meet a fortunate demise and be burning in doggy hell by this afternoon.

A photo of the victim can be seen here.

Anyway, I’ve got all the content together, so I’ll try and get this podcast up tonight. I’m shooting to do two or three shows a week, but things should pick up a bit after busy season. Until then…

Thanks!

A special thanks to a couple listeners of Butter’s Podcast who took the time to post comments and/or send me an email. Joe T suggested a weekly international futbol update (that’s soccer for all you sheltered Americans). This suggestion will be taken, as I had wanted to do that anyway. I know there are at least a few of you out there who may appreciate that. Estif posted a comment over on my Spain blog that offered great encouragement. Gracias, Estif.

Things are busy here, but I’m going to try to get another podcast out there within the next couple days. Does anyone else have any cool ideas of things I could do? I have to think people would tire of me rambling on about wacky news and my boring life. Good news is that Arianne and Logisz have promised a phone call this weekend. I’ll have the recorder ready as I’m sure there will be some good material there.

Here’s a thought: if any of you sees anything out there that you feel may be “Butter’s Podcast Worthy”, shoot me an email and I’ll discuss it on the show. We got some good mileage out of Arianne’s comments last weekend.

That’s all for now. I should be back soon with more buttery goodness.

Good day all! Butter’s Podcast #3 is up and ready for your listening pleasure. Get ready to get a little touchy-feely as Butter delves into some of life’s most complicated relationship questions. Special thanks to Arianne for providing the fodder for this show.

Enjoy all!

New podcast coming soon!

August 19, 2005

Good day all!

My apologies for not getting something up yesterday. It’s been a busy few days for me here as I am closing on my new house this afternoon. I’ve got some content and hope to get another podcast up over the weekend.

Special thanks to Arianne who sent me a nice email of encouragement. Don’t worry Arianne, all of your concerns will be addressed in the upcoming podcast.

Have a great weekend, and hopefully you’ll all hear from me soon!

Hello again!

Here’s Butter’s Podcast #2 straight from my car. Nothing too exciting tonight. Just a couple quick news stories and a shout out.

In the morning I’m off to the bank to hopefully straighten out a mess that would prevent me from closing on my house on Friday. Please wish me luck. I’m stressed the heck out at the moment…

Well, it’s finally here! My very first podcast drive cast can be downloaded at the link below! All you have to do is right-click where it says “link” at the bottom of this post, “Save As” and save it down. Alternatively you can subscribe to my feed in a podcatcher by copying the URL of the feed to right into your application (this is really the way to go).

This being my first podcast, it is a little rough. In fact I get started of very badly by saying the wrong date (it was August 16th, not 18th). I will work on the audio levels and whatnot to hopefully make it better. Right now I’m having it hosted up on ourmedia.org meaning it’s free. I’m doing this entire thing for free at the moment. I realize that for the end user this isn’t the best solution as download speeds can be a bit slow, but assuming I stay into this thing (which I think I will), I’ll probably eventually get a libsyn account and do it right. Right now I’m just poor and don’t have the $5/month to fork over. I know, I know…I’m cheap.

Hope you enjoy, all!

Obviously here in Philadelphia the majority of conversation circles around Terrell Owens and his antics. Well, someone sent me this link today, and it is absolutely hysterical. I highly suggest you check it out. This guy will make a million dollars.

Ok, back to the grind kids!

Hey everyone…a few quickies for you today:

- Apparently rickshaws have been declared inhumane in India. To me that’s like the House of Representatives deciding that baseball is now against the law. This crazy new law obviously doesn’t apply in New York City.

- Apparently Kaiser Soze’s lawyer is one heck of an eater.

- The Irish got two more big commits in the last two days: Demetrius Jones - QB, and Rasheon McNeil - CB We are just nasty.

- After 5 years at Notre Dame, I learned two things: St. Mary’s girls are questionable at best, and Irish people take their whiskey very seriously.

Sorry!

August 10, 2005

Good day all! Well, it’s been almost two weeks since I’ve posted to the blog. Please accept my apologies if you’ve been checking the site only to find no new information. Unfortunately this time of year is a bit busy here in the wonderful world of public accounting. I’m also trying to close on a new house and plan a wedding, so I just haven’t had a ton of time for blogging.

ND football starts in exactly 24 days vs. Pitt. Fall practice actually started this past Monday. Head over to Irish Eyes if you haven’t already to check out all the latest news and info.

On a related note, I’m trying to think about what I want to do with my podcast when I actually start it (which I’m hoping to do once I get into my house). One of the ideas I had was to do sort of a “gamewatch” podcast where you get to listen to me watch an ND football game. I thought that might be kind of an entertaining idea. If you have any other ideas, please drop me an email and let me know what you think. Other than that I was going to try to do a summary of interesting news, sort of like the links I’ve been posting.

Have a tremendous day!
