Hadn’t seen this before.  I thought it was pretty clever.

Flight of the Conchords

July 30, 2007

I’m not usually one for validating my buddy Fitzy, but I started watching Flight of the Conchords after seeing it listed on his Facebook page.  It’s hysterical.  It’s about two guys from New Zealand who are in a band and come to America.  At random points throughout the episodes, they break into song.  Here’s a sample: Bret is on a date with his new girlfriend, and sings her a song he wrote her (with the help of band mate Jermaine, who insists on tagging along on the dates).  Fantastic.

Lately I’ve been feeling a little bit…

Some Friday Entertainment

June 15, 2007

This one is dedicated to Looe Baker.  Here’s a YouTube clip I found from the 2005 Keenan Revue.  For those of you non-Domers out there, the Keenan Revue is an annual variety show put on by Keenan Hall at ND.  It’s usually pretty funny.

The video itself is pretty funny, but you had to go to ND to get the punchline at the end.  If you watch it and have no idea of the allusion that the sketch is making, see the second video (a music video) and then it should make more sense.  For even more fun, try and synchronize the two together.  Play the top one until about the 3:05 mark, and then start the bottom one.  Pretty funny.

Enjoy!

It’s Friday!

You know what I do when I’m feeling down and troubled?  I crank up some Little Superstar:

The Dolphins are morons

May 7, 2007

I’m not even going to start talking about Brady Quinn’s fall in the draft last week, but I did want to post this video of Dolphin fans booing their new coach and chanting “Brady” at the draft party.  What an incredibly dumb move.

He’s excited about what the Ginn family can bring to the Dolphins?!  Are you kidding me?  I hate the Ginn family.

MLB stuck it to me yesterday

April 11, 2007

Yesterday I bet on 7 Major League Baseball games.  One of the bets I always make is that the favored team will win by greater than 1 run.  According to my calculations, over the past 20 seasons a home team will win a game by exactly 1 run roughly 15.46% of the time (i.e., given all the games played by all the teams in a season, exactly 15.46% of those will be a home win by 1 run).  Away teams will win by exactly one run about 9.8% of the time.

For me, the one thing you don’t want to have happen is for the home (or favored) team to win by exactly one run.  Yesterday, that happened in 3 out of the 7 games I bet (thanks a lot, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, and Indians).  That’s bogus, as it means I lose on both sides of my bet (I bet the favored team to win by 2 and the underdog to win straight up, thereby hedging a bit).  According to the binomial probability function, the chances of this happening are only about 6.61%.  This ended up losing me about 42.5% of my total bet–not a good return on “investment”.

Yesterday was not my lucky day.

No one was chomping on Oreos for me yesterday.

Seen on Ballhype…

This one is especially for the Heffernans.  I think this clip could be a harbinger for the Reds’ season this year:

Look at the look on Eric Davis’ face.  That is priceless!

SNL

March 27, 2007

This past Saturday I did something I haven’t done in a number of years.  I stayed up on Saturday Night to watch SNL.  Although the cast is admittedly horrible next to the Ferrell years, I thought guest host Peyton Manning did a pretty decent job.  They also did a Dora the Explorer parody on T.V. Funhouse which was good.  This bit with Peyton was my favorite, I think.
